The Martin Luther King Celebration went exceptionally well.
We were supposed to be the second group to perform on stage, at 12:30 PM.
However, the first group, a gospel choir, was not ready yet. So at 12:10 PM
the director asked me if we could go on first, 20 minutes early. We saved
the day, so to speak, as there would have been a long delay and the show
wouldn't have continued as planned. The show must go on!
Our worship team was in rare form. I led with my guitar. We also had piano,
bass, bongos, flute, cello and six vocals. It was sweet. Great sound system, too.
Some of our harmonies even surprised me. God is good.
Our dance team looked and performed excellently. They wore coordinated
costumes and looked really professional. Eight dancers and eight on the
worship team.
The audience joined right in clapping and singing with us on the "Lai, lai,
lai's". We did six Israeli songs, all exalting God and/or taken right from
the Word. Though I didn't preach, the message went out anyway. I believe
the LORD gave me our mission for this day: We were not to witness, but to be
a witness. Many came up to us afterwards thanking us for coming. One Jewish
woman read about the "controversy" in the paper and came down to support us.
That was cool.
Also, I was approached by a reporter from The Jewish Transcript, the largest
Jewish newspaper in the state of Washington. It is THE voice of the Jewish
community. We spent two hours together talking about all sorts of things. I
believe and hope this encounter will bear fruit in the future. And may God
get all the glory.
I'll send a few photos next. Watch your inbox. Also, in about a week we
will have a bunch more photos on our website, if you care to view them.
Blessings and Shalom,
Hylan
