Renderings from the Rabbi
There’s life at Beit Tikvah!
“I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.” John 10:10
Yeshua was talking about a life that is full and complete; a life that is neither boring nor complacent.
When our family moved to the Seattle area almost eight years ago the LORD gave me a phrase to describe
our life and ministry: Life is rich and full; challenging and rewarding. It is still applicable today
and continues to remind me of the grace of God. When I think of the life of our humble congregation I
cannot but think of how rich and full it has been, and 2004 is already planning to be one of our most
exciting years ever. Just look at the calendar enclosed with this newsletter and you’ll know what I mean.
Our Purim Celebration will be special this year for a number of reasons.
First of all, we have a number of new members in our congregation who have yet to celebrate this
wonderful holiday commemorating the deliverance of the Jews from the evil hand of Haman (Boo!).
Secondly, our Purim production this year is a musical written and directed by our very own Cindy
Abraham. You will be surprised by the quality of the lyrics and music. And thirdly, we have
some new games and activities for the children, including miniature trains and professional clowns.
We’re also selling pizza this year instead of hot dogs.
Our Community Passover Seder is always an exciting, encouraging and enlightening time as we see the last
Seder of Yeshua come alive through Jewish food and tradition. Come and learn the mystery of the Matza
Tash and why Yeshua said, “This is my body broken for you.” At the close you will learn simple
messianic dances that may open for you a new expression of worship. Call the office for tickets,
group tickets and early bird discounts.
We’re still in the Book of Hebrews after two years and three months. I just started teaching
through chapter 11, where I did three messages on the first three verses. It looks as though we
might not finish the book for some time, but then again, who’s counting? You can now hear these
messages online.
We are learning and growing in the
grace of God. What have we learned? Faith is the substance, the underlying reality, of what we
hope for. Through faith, the things that are possible for God are also possible to those who
believe. Faith is in the present, a substance we already have. Hope is directed toward the
future, an expectation of things to come. Our faith in God pleases Him and He rewards us.
May your faith increase this year as you trust God in all you do. Yeshua said to Martha in
John 11:40, “If you believe you will see the glory of God.”
That’s what we want. May the glory of God be revealed as we traverse these precarious end of days.
Come quickly LORD Yeshua.
